JPEG TV slide shows

Before going on holiday I bought a Canon G5, which I'm very impressed with. On return I burnt the images onto CD using Nero 5.5 express which came with the CD rewriter. I used the Video CD function which was great to show on the TV but the photos are saved as .dat files and not JPEG. Nero doesn't save JPEG in any of its functions, so could you suggest a product that I can purchase, so I can burn and save my photos on to CD and also get prints copied from the CD? I am an aid worker and will shortly be going to Somalia, can you recommend a rugged, lightweight second-hand 35mm SLR?

I am an aid worker and will shortly be going to Somalia, starting in Mogadishu, with the possibility of travelling to more remote areas. I own a Nikon D70, but don't want to take this with me given the problems I think I would have with dust, batteries/charging and so on, so can you recommend a rugged, lightweight second-hand 35mm SLR? Ideally, it shouldn't be too expensive.

I've just bought an Epson Perfection 2580 Photo scanner to scan my slides to send to magazines

I've just bought an Epson Perfection 2580 Photo scanner to scan my slides to send to magazines. However, the results I've had so far have been, in a word, pathetic. I'm not sure whether it's me not using it properly or that the scanner isn't up to the task, but the images produced are nowhere near adequate to send to any editor. Is there any advice you could share?

I have recently acquired an old 35mm Konica SE camera which I have not run a film through

I have recently acquired an old 35mm Konica SE camera which, as yet, I have not run a film through. It seems to be in good condition and I think I can work out how to use it, but as I have no handbook I know very little about it. Am I right in thinking that this is a rangefinder camera and would you be able to tell me anything more about it?

Contrary to the popular trend of 'going digital', I am considering buying a medium-format camera.

Contrary to the popular trend of 'going digital', I am considering buying a medium-format camera. Although I have been looking at the various makes and models, I am finding it difficult to make a choice. I plan to try my hand at portrait, wedding and landscape photography, and want an entry-level kit that will be user friendly, deliver good results and not blow a hole in my bank balance. I am willing to buy second-hand, but would not want to spend more than £500. What would you advise?
